3, BARROW HILL LINE BID PROGRESS

4, SHEFFIELD LOCAL PLAN COMMENTS

DVR Submitted comments. These essentially stated:

  • We greatly welcome the Stocksbridge Line being included in the plans

The Plan includes the line.

  • However now land allocations need to support this

The Bloor Planning permission although paying lip service to DVR does not offer a strong enough rebuttal by the planners in terms of protecting Deepcar station site. At Sheffield’s first tele-conference planning committee no time was allocated for comments on the proposal and this contributed to the Bloor development being passed without adequately protecting the station site.

This and other necessary sites along the line now need protection in the plan.

  • We are less welcoming of the SCR position in terms of NPR being less aspirational than other city regions

The current plans for NPR links to Manchester use the Hope Valley Line. It is our view that these offer less benefit than all other NPR corridors. SCR rail plan stated that if Hope Valley is not usable other corridors should be considered. The obvious other corridor being Woodhead. Delivery of this could deliver a higher DVR aspirations as a by-product and it is our view that SCR should be more ambitious in terms of their wants from NPR. 5, ERTA

Simon Barber visited our meeting. CB invited to talk to their Spring Conference in April.
